Welcome to the Society, Governance and Security Collaborative Research Network

Welcome to the homepage of the University of Birmingham’s ‘Society, Governance and Security’ (SGS) Collaborative Research Network – the largest of nine research networks set up in 2004 in line with the University’s Research Strategy, to foster and to showcase interdisciplinary research linkages within University.

Research themes covered by the SGS network

This site has a dual internal and external orientation:

Internally

to facilitate interaction between colleagues working in areas that traditionally have tended to exist separately from oneanother
to highlight examples of achievement in collaborative research across campus
to foster new collaborative partnerships, both within the University, and with external partners in the UK and abroad

Externally

to showcase achievements in the key subject areas and themes covered by the SGS network, by providing information on the enormous depth and range of high quality research and publications produced at the University of Birmingham
to provide a unified portal through which external users – researchers, funders, users, the general public – can get in touch with members of the SGS network
